The goals of the mission are to establish a collaborative international network of autonomous underwater glider ports, to assess global ocean model predictive skill while contributing real-time profile data for assimilation in ocean forecast models by operational centers worldwide, and to crowd source student-based ocean research and discovery. This glider is equipped with a CTD, a WETLabs FLBBCD ECO puck configured for simultaneous chlorophyll fluorescence and optical backscatter measurements, an Aanderaa Optode for measuring dissolved oxygen, a DMON passive acoustic sensor for the detection of marine mammals, and an Rx-LIVE fish telemetry receiver to track tagged species moving through the region. This approximately 21- to 30-day deployment out of Sandy Hook, New Jersey will run a zig-zag transect along the coast of New Jersey, in and around current and planned offshore wind lease areas, with a planned recovery out of Tuckerton, New Jersey. The real-time dataset contains CTD, chlorophyll a, CDOM, optical backscatter, and dissolved oxygen measurements. The display of baleen whale occurrence information will be available in near real-time on the Robots4Whales website http://robots4whales.whoi.edu (external link). This is a partnership between NOAA Ocean and Atmospheric Research (OAR) through the Atlantic Oceanographic and Meteorological Laboratory (AOML) and Integrated Ocean Observing System (IOOS) regional associations such as MARACOOS, SECOORA, CariCOOS and institutions including the University of Puerto Rico, University of the Virgin Islands, Skidaway Institute of Oceanography, University of Delaware, Virginia Institute of Marine Science - William & Mary, and Rutgers University. The goal of the project is to provide realtime data for ocean model validation and assimilation throughout hurricane season. This project is supported by the Disaster Recovery Act. The glider will transect offshore to the shelf break in-between Norfolk and Washington Canyon. The glider will repeat this cross-shelf transect for the first half of the deployment. For the second half of the deployment, glider sylvia will work in concert with glider amelia to complete the triangle pattern between Norfolk Canyon and Washington Canyon.\n\ncdm_data_type = TrajectoryProfile\nVARIABLES:\ntime (m_present_time, seconds since 1970-01-01T00:00:00Z)\nlatitude (degrees_north)\nlongitude (degrees_east)\ndepth (CTD Depth, m)\ntrajectory (Trajectory/Deployment Name)\nprofile_id\nprofile_lat (Profile Center Latitude, degrees_north)\nprofile_lon (Profile Center Longitude, degrees_east)\nsource_file (Source data file)\nplatform (Slocum Glider sylvia)\ninstrument_ctd (Conductivity, Temperature, Depth (CTD) Sensor)\ninstrument_flbbcdslc (ECO Triplet Puck)\nbeam_c (m-1)\nbeta_700nm (m-1 sr-1)\n...
